A broken tooth is a serious matter and most of our patients want a solution that looks beautiful and functions comfortably. Dr. Lere had advanced training in designing and creating beautiful, life-like dental crowns that will protect and stabilize your tooth for many, many years. He performs dental crown procedures daily and utilizes advancements in materials and technology that allow him to use all-ceramic restorations without compromising the strength of his restorations.
When Are Crowns Necessary?
Broken teeth – If you have fractured or broken a tooth, a dental crown can repair your tooth and protect it from continued damage.
Deep decay – Deep decay that requires removal of a significant amount of your tooth structure may destabilize your tooth. A dental crown can restore your chewing surface and protect your tooth from breaking.
Filling replacement – If we replace a deteriorating filling, Dr. Lere may recommend a crown instead of another filling depending on how much of your tooth structure remains.
After a root canal – When you have a root canal, your natural tooth becomes brittle. A crown can extend the life of your tooth by decades.
Bite issues – If your teeth have excessive wear due to teeth grinding and clenching, dental crowns can help rebuild your bite for greater comfort and function.
Cosmetic solutions – if you dislike your tooth’s appearance, a restoration such as a crown or veneer can improve the aesthetics of your smile.
What Does a Dental Crown Entail?
Dr. Lere will gently remove any damaged or decayed tooth structure so that only healthy tooth remains. Then, he will take an impression and create a temporary crown that will hold you over until your permanent crown comes back from the dental lab. Dr. Lere designs each custom crown to match the rest of your smile so that it blends perfectly and looks natural.
Once we receive your permanent crown, Dr. Lere will bond it to your tooth and make any final adjustments necessary to ensure a proper fit.
