Do you treat children?
We welcome all members of your family, including children. Our team treats our youngest patients in the most effective way possible. Our goal is to make your child’s visit to the dentist a positive one so that they learn dental care is a normal part of their health routine.
We enjoy seeing children and giving them the special, extra gentle care that they deserve. We are happy to see kids of any age; however, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the sooner the child is able to come to the dentist, the better. The reason for early age visits is to note any problems that may be developing and to allow your child to get used to coming to the dentist and the surroundings. It also gives Dr. Tony Lere the opportunity to identify and treat any early oral health conditions.
Some people are surprised that we want to see children while they still have their baby teeth. It might seem less important because they will be losing those teeth anyway. These teeth are actually quite important for your child’s development. They can get cavities and develop infections, just like adult teeth. When they become infected, they can affect the development and eruption of adult teeth, creating orthodontic and other dental problems. At Mountain Shadows Family Dentistry, we believe in preventing problems before they develop, including treating cavities and other problems of children’s teeth.
